Know The Difference Between Polyethylene Tubing and Polyurethane Tubing

Most of the people understand that there is no difference in Polyethylene Tubing and Polyurethane Tubing but that's just a myth. There are many differences between these two custom pipe solutions. Knowing the difference is very important especially when you are an Engineer or in a related job. This really helps in making the right piping decision while working in residential or commercial workplaces. So let's get started to know the points on the basis of which we can say that Polyethylene Tubing and Polyurethane Tubing are different.

Polyurethane Tubing

It's basically a plastic material, which could be both flexible and stiff in nature. Such type of material can be seen in car parts, mattresses, insulators, and other daily items which we use. It was the time of Second World War when this material is developed for replacing rubber. Polyurethane tubing is longer-lasting and more durable than that of rubber.

(a) - Why Use Polyurethane Tubing?

There are many uses of Polyurethane Tubing. It's a very versatile product used in various types of industry. It's mainly used because of its ability to stretch. That's why for flexibility, Polyurethane Tubing is preferred. It also resists heat and works excellent in harsh temperature.

(b) - When to Use Polyurethane Tubing

For outdoor tubing and piping, it is best. The reason is it will not get cracked or will not be affected by various chemicals. This is the reason that it is very durable in nature. Also, it is not very much affected through heat and fire, so it is best for using at outdoor locations.

Polyethylene Tubing

It is also plastic material. The tubes and pipes made by Polyethylene Tubing are very lightweight, flexible, and very durable in nature. While working with chemicals made by Polyethylene is safe to use.

(a) - Why Use Polyethylene Tubing

Among industrialists, it is also known as PE or Poly tubing. This is less flexible than that of polyurethane tubing but good for working in industries because it doesn't react very quickly with chemicals and highly reactive substances.

(b) - When to Use Polyethylene Tubing

This type of tubing material is mostly used in Airlines, fluid lines, food and beverage industries, hospitals and laboratories. It gives a clean look at the end products.
