If you're a serious chess player, you're probably wondering Chess tournaments calendar. The World Chess Championship and World Youth Chess Championship take place every two years, and there are several major events taking place this year. There's also the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour and the Catalan Chess Circuit.

World Youth Chess Championship

The World Youth Chess Championship is an event for children between the ages of 10 and 18 years. More than one thousand young players from 48 countries participated in the championship. Many of them are already International Masters. The top finishers included Russian International Master Alexander Grischuk, who was competing in the U-18 category. Other medal winners included the U-14 gold medallist Nadezhda Kosintseva, the U-12 silver medallist Tatiana Kosintseva and the U-14 bronze medallist David Navara.

The U-16 and U18 age groups were sometimes held separately from the U10 and U12 age groups. The U16 and U18 events were conducted on a televised basis in 1999, 2000, and 2005. However, they are likely to return as over-board events in the future.

There have been many ties between the top players at the World Youth Chess Championship. In 1979, the French chess authorities organised the first World Cadet Championship, in which thirty players competed in an 11-round Swiss. Jonathan Mestel won the championship by a half-point margin. Second and third place went to Evgeny Vladimirov of the Russian Federation and Austrian Olaf Scherzka. In the 1980s, the World Cadets included the future grandmaster Johann Hjartarson and the Canadian Jean Hebert.

World Senior Chess Championship

The World Senior Chess Championship is a tournament for seniors in which participants compete for titles and prizes. The championship takes place every two years. The previous championship was held in 1992. There were two sections: men's and women's. Both sections feature international and grand master players. Earlier in this series, the men's championship was won by Viktor Korchnoi.

The World Senior Chess Championship is an invitational chess tournament for senior players and is open to all FIDE National Chess Federations. The entry fee is 70 EUR per player, and includes the cost of registration and accreditation with FIDE. Participants will also have to pay for travel expenses from and to Bucharest Intl. Airport transfers are also included in the cost.

In addition to the World Senior Chess Championship, the European Senior Chess Championship is another annual tournament. The tournament is a great opportunity for people to compete against their peers. It is open to players aged 50 and older and is open to teams from around the world. Teams can represent their National Chess Federations and can be composed of four players. The team must have a published FIDE rating of 2300 or below before the registration deadline.

Meltwater Champions Chess Tour

The Meltwater Champions Chess Tour is a nine-month series of online chess tournaments in which chess players will compete for US$1.6 million in prize money. This year's tour is set to be one of the biggest in history. In addition to the prizes, players will have the chance to compete in the tournaments with the highest rated players in the world.

The tournament is sponsored by Play Magnus Group and Meltwater, two leading providers of media and social media intelligence. It also supports UNICEF, which helps children affected by the war in Ukraine. Interested players can follow the tournament on its website or on Chess24. Wesley So is one of the players who is participating in the tournament.

The Meltwater Champions Chess Tour will include nine events, with separate prize pools for each event. Three events will be major events, with the winner taking home the most money. The first event is the Oslo Esports Cup, which will take place on April 22-28, 2022. The format of the tournament is round-robin, with eight players playing four rapid games each day. The winner of each match will receive 2 points, while the loser will earn one point.

Catalan Chess Circuit

The Catalan Chess Circuit is a series of international open chess tournaments. It is organized by the Catalan Chess Federation and sponsored by the Catalan Sports Council. Each tournament must meet specific criteria for its organization and must be attended by at least two thousand participants from all over the world. The Circuit currently consists of 28 International Tournaments held in Spain. The schedule includes 14 Rapid Chess Opens and 14 traditional time control Opens.

The tournament will provide a Catalan rating, FIDE and FEDA rating and will also award an international title. Players must be registered for the tournament and must register prior to participating in the tournament. Any player who arrives late will be automatically eliminated from the tournament. The same rule applies for players who are late for more than one round of a tournament. In the event of a late arrival, the player must contact the arbiter during the previous round of the tournament to inform them that he or she is going to miss the game.

In addition to the general prize, the Catalan Chess Circuit also has a general prize and a rating section prize. Players are assigned to these sections according to their age and rating. If a player qualifies for prizes from both categories, they must choose one and inform the organizing committee of their preference. Otherwise, the players who have won a prize in both categories will be awarded the prize that matches their category.
