The portKeys LH5P is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a quality, inexpensive External Camera Screen. However, it doesn't come without its drawbacks. In this article, we'll compare the LH5P with Liliput A7S and Atomos Ninja V, as well as SmallHD Indie 7.

PortKeys' LH5P

The PortKeys' LH5P external video camera screen is an aluminum construction with a tempered glass screen. The buttons on the LH5P's front are plastic, but they're clicky, and the battery slot goes in and out smoothly. There are a few other features that make this a top-notch monitor for external cameras. Here are some of its key features:

Color accuracy is a critical consideration for any camera monitor, and the PortKeys lh5piiis no exception. The display is color-calibrated with an X-Rite i1 Display Pro, so you're guaranteed good color accuracy right out of the box. Still, you might need to tweak the monitor's chroma/tint settings if you'd like to get the most out of the footage. It's also worth getting a spectrophotometer for accurate color calibration.

Atomos Ninja V

The Atomos Ninja V is a highly capable external camera monitor. It features a 5-inch IPS touchscreen with 1080p resolution and a 1000 nit brightness. The screen is X-Rite calibrated and features a durable aluminum chassis. It supports SSDs and includes a range of other useful features such as focus assist, time-lapse, and waveforms. For a modest price, it is a fantastic addition to any DSLR setup.

The Ninja V can be powered by a Sony NP-F type battery, which is available in a variety of sizes and power ratings. It comes with a battery branded by Atomos. The Atomos Ninja V is compatible with mobile rigs and tripods. It also has a cold shoe mount and camera cage mounting points for attaching to tripods and other accessories. Regardless of your shooting needs, you can count on the Ninja V to deliver the best possible image quality.

Liliput A7S

If you're planning on using your DSLR or mirrorless camera as a source of video content, the Lilliput A7S is a good option. Its 7" Full HD lcd panel delivers Full HD resolution and offers a 16:10 aspect ratio. Its HDMI loop through function makes it easy to connect to any HD device for extended screen viewing. The monitor also has two customizable function keys for quick access to favorite functions.

The Feelworld FW279 is another excellent option, featuring a 323 PPI IPS LCD and Loop-Through HDMI. While it may lack contrast and color vibrancy, its FW279 screen does offer a host of useful features, including a focus meter and tools to analyze exposure and focus. The FW279 has a battery and tilt arm for convenience. You can connect your camera via HDMI or a USB port, which can be convenient if you need to move the screen.

SmallHD Indie 7

The SmallHD Indie 7 external camera monitor is equipped with a high-resolution screen that can display up to 1000 nits of brightness. The monitor is equipped with the latest PageOS 4 software toolset, which allows for fast performance. It also features exposure assist, focus assist, and Teradek RT overlays - features that are especially useful for indie filmmakers. Apart from these features, the SmallHD Indie monitor features 10-bit colour processing, 100% Rec 709, and 1000 nits of brightness.

The SmallHD Indie 7 is capable of handling a wide variety of camera settings and is daylight viewable. It supports RED Komodo/DSMC2 cameras, has a 7-inch touchscreen display, and is compatible with the Teradek Bolt 4K RX module. Currently, it is the latest in the SmallHD line of on-camera monitors. The other models are the FOCUS 5 and Pro, the 503 Ultrabright 5-inch screen, and the 702 Touch.

Blackmagic Design Video Assist 3G

The Blackmagic Design Video Assist 3GS is a portable monitor, recorder, scope, and professional monitor all in one. It is an ideal camera viewfinder solution and can be added to a variety of different cameras, including HDMI and SDI. It features built-in focus assist features, 1080p60, and L-Series batteries. For even greater convenience, it is powered by USB-C and includes an included power adapter.

In addition to having a touchscreen and customizable LCD screens, the Blackmagic Video Assist 3G has built-in support for webcams with a USB-C connection. You can live stream using Zoom or Twitch, or even broadcast a broadcast to Open Broadcaster or YouTube. Those using live streaming software can easily trick their video screen into being a webcam.
