Plasticity is the ability of a body part to change, such as grow or bend, in response to stimuli. The term "limit test" refers to the most severe insult applied below which insult returns no answer. In other words, the Plasticity limit test looks at how long it takes for that limit of plasticity to be reached in an individual's body after the most severe insult has been applied.

A limit of plasticity is an observation that holds in some individuals but not others. Individuals' plasticity will alter over time as they walk around, eat, sleep, and play. These changes are called "aging." Aging is the gradual hardening and stiffening of a body part as one grows older. At any given moment, the body contains a certain number of cells actively dividing.

Role of Plasticity Limit Test

The number of actively dividing cells influences the plasticity of a body part. This number is called the "cellular reserve." The cellular reserve increases in individuals who engage in physical activity, such as walking around and playing. Therefore, the individual observed with a plasticity limit will have a more enormous cellular reserve than another individual who did not engage in many exercises. A plasticity limit becomes more elastic the greater the number of actively dividing cells. Therefore, an individual with a greater cellular reserve has a higher ability to recover than one who is not as physically active or has a smaller cellular account. The plasticity limit is found in a tiny percentage of the population, which means that most people can recover from an insult they sustain. The plasticity limitations of the population can be divided into two groups:

1. Individuals with a low cellular reserve have lost the ability to adapt to the stimulus.

2. Individuals with a high cellular reserve can adapt to the stimulus but regain rapidly.

This test provides a valuable tool for predicting the limitations of plasticity of an individual based on their physical activity level. Limits are not absolute but relative to the individual performing the test.

The limit of plasticity can predict whether an individual can recover from the damage that has occurred below their limit of plasticity. For example, an individual who has a limit of plasticity close to their shoulder injury will be able to recover faster than one who had a shoulder injury further below their limit of plasticity.

In conclusion, the Plasticity limit test provides a valuable method for grading and ranking individuals by their ability to recover from an insult. The measure of recovery is expressed as a ratio between the degree of injury and the distance from that injury to the individual's limit of plasticity.
