You will have heard a lot recently about the joys of CBD - with a drop your aches and pains go away, you are more relaxed and you can get to sleep. But, is what you are hearing and reading really true? Shockingly, studies and first hand accounts appear to say that the rumours are true, it works. However, we are all very different so as with any supplement or medication, you should try it for yourself to see. We just thought we’d provide some guidance if you decide to go the purest route, taking CBD oil from a tincture. What is a CBD tincture? 

CBD (cannabidiol) is naturally derived from cannabis plants. In the UK CBD is only derived from hemp which is a CBD dominant plant and contains zero to negligible amounts of THC. This means it will not get you high. A CBD tincture in the UK, is when hemp extract has been suspended in some sort of edible oil. In our case, MCT oil is derived from coconut. 

Are there different types of CBD?

You will notice when scanning the CBD tincture aisles of the UK the phrases “isolate” and “broad spectrum” are used and even “full spectrum.” What does this mean? Isolate as it would suggest is when the CBD is isolated away from other cannabinoids and so is just CBD. Broad spectrum is when the CBD also comes along with other minor cannabinoids such as CBG. Now full spectrum is when CBD, the other minor cannabinoids and THC is present. UK requirements are quite stringent on THC content so it's a bit of a push calling something full spectrum as the amounts of THC included are negligible at best.

What strength of CBD should you get? 

It really depends on the person as to tolerance level. We always suggest starting off low and then working your way up from there. But just a note, the higher the strength the more likely the CBD oil will taste of hemp which is rather bitter and not the nicest.
